Our Bookshelves!

We took on a big project in 2025. We created a bibliography of the bookcases full of books owned by our cooks and researchers! Some of these books were sources for our research on a menu that became a banquet in the long past, and some are our most current go-to sources for historical food, including some sources with recipes in their original languages. This project included categorizing more than 200 books residing in multiple personal libraries.

From a huge Excel spreadsheet, we created categorized bibliographies. If you wonder whether we used a certain book in our research, or want to skim the sources we’ve listed to find inspiration or information, please check out the Bibliographies drop-down menus on this website.
